My ODDyssey

Saturday:
7 pm.: There is a Mariachi in our restaurant. Amused.
8 pm: Tim, Sarah and I take mom’s car to West Philly. We make plans: Tim will hang out with friend Chip, and swing by center city to pick us up at 2 am. We await a call to Chip.
8:40. Erica is supposed to arrive about 830/9. She calls: she’ll be here in about a half hour (9:10) because of traffic.
9:50. Erica arrives.
~8-10:40pm: Chip continues to not answer phone.
10:40: We realize Tim can’t give us a ride, and instead will drive home after dropping us off. We decide to take the last train home at 12:40 am.
12:25am. Sarah and I start walking for the train. Running. I take off my strappy heels and run barefoot for 8 blocks.
12:42 am. We miss the train and decide to run for the last night bus.
12:55: we decide that running will be futile as it takes more than two minutes to get there. We turn back towards the bars/olde city.
~1 am. We try three phones. None let us call Margaret, and instead reject our money. We call Erica and arrange to meet her at the bar we had just left.
1:15 am. Erica, Sarah and I hail a cab and decide to sleep in West Philly, and take an early train home so we can pack and move into our apartment.
Sunday
8:30am We wake Erica for a ride to 30th street station. It is thundering and raining heavily.
9:00am At 30th St. We find out at the ticket window that no northbound trains are running. I purchase a bus pass, and we endeavor to take the subway, and transfer to my bus line. We cross the street.
9:02am We run across the street/river. It's so deep, Sarah's shoes endeavor to float away. As Sarah and I run for the El (to take to the subway), a man yells to us that it’s not running. There is a shuttle bus instead. We cross the street and wait in the rain. Without umbrellas. In our clubbing outfits. With newspapers on our heads. The bus comes. We get on, and ride to 15th Market. We walk a few blocks to City Hall in the rain, and find out that the subway isn’t running either. We have to walk north to Arch for that shuttle. I make an idiotic decision to walk through the courtyard of city hall to get out of the rain for a few minutes. The homeless seem to have taken over, which is fine. One man follows us. We assume he is also cutting through, until he walks up beside us and Sarah realizes he is staring at us and jerking off. We walk faster. He mutters profanities, etc. We run out of city hall, toward the bus stop.
9:20am The shuttle comes. We get on and ride it north. Dad picks us up at the end of the line.
3:00pm We’ve moved in, and the parents have left. We go shopping for cleaning supplies. The Thriftway smells funny.
4:00pm. Sarah and I start cleaning the kitchen.
8:00pm After two rolls of paper towels and hours of scraping grease off with soap, rags, sponges and predominantly a BUTTER KNIFE, we can’t clean any more.

That was some weird shit.

Too sick to work (not too sick to post)

Ah, wait until the depression of actual employment sets in. Speaking of which,
I came home today "sick" it's amazing how much better I felt once I walked through my front door and with a burst of joy understood that I was now free to walk around in my underwear.
